HELANBU TREK

The Helambu trek is a short, relatively easy (ideal for families) trek , enjouable
all year-round in January-February, the Yolmo people celebrate Tibetan new year with
colorful dancing at the monasteries, Spring sees brilliant displays of rhododendron
and primula blooms, and autumn comes alive with post monsoon greenery. Lodges are
well-serviced and spaced conveniently. (Note: trekkers must pay a separate fee to
enter Shivapuri Watershed Reserve in addition to the National Park fee).
Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu to Melamchi Pul by bus /taxi (3-5hrs).
Day 2: Melamchi Pul 830m to Kalani (1900m). 5 hrs. view of Dorje Lhakpa Himal.
Day 3: Kakani to Shermathang 2600m. 3 hrs. Enjoy dal bhat inside a Yolmo Kitchen.
Day 4: Shermathang to Tarkeghyang 2550 4 hrs. A medieal-looking village.
Day 5: Tarkeghyang to Melamchighyang (2560m) 5 hrs. An idyllic village setting.
Day 6: Melamchighyang to Thadepati (3630m) 4 hrs. Climb through dense forest.
Day 7 Thadepati to Kutumsang (2470m) 4 hrs. rhododendromlined ridge trail.
Day 8 Kutumsang to pati Bhanjyang (1770m.), 4 hrs. Good Himalayan views.
Day 9 Pati Bhanjyang to Sundarijal (1400m) 6 hrs.
