Makalu Base Camp Trek Itinerary (18–20 Days)
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
- Meet and greet at Tribhuvan International Airport
- Transfer to the hotel, trip briefing
Day 2: Kathmandu – Trek Preparation & Permits
- Free day for sightseeing and final shopping
- Makalu-Barun National Park permit and TIMS card processing
Day 3: Fly to Tumlingtar and Drive to Num (1,560 m)
- 50-minute flight + 4–5 hour jeep drive
- Overnight in Num at a local teahouse or campsite
Day 4: Trek to Seduwa (1,530 m)
- Descend to the Arun River
- Climb steeply to Seduwa
- Permit check and registration
Day 5: Trek to Tashigaon (2,100 m)
- Gradual ascent through bamboo and rhododendron forest
- Overnight in a traditional Sherpa village
Day 6: Trek to Khongma Danda (3,500 m)
- Steep ascent through dense forest
- First panoramic views of the Makalu range
Day 7: Acclimatisation at Khongma Danda
- Explore the surrounding ridges or rest
Day 8: Cross Shipton La (4,200 m) and descend to Dobate (3,650 m)
- Cross Ghungru La, Shipton La, and Keke La

Day 9: Trek to Yangri Kharka (3,610 m)
- Trek through rhododendron forest along the Barun River
Day 10: Trek to Langmale Kharka (4,410 m)
