Sunkoshi River Rafting Itinerary (8 Days)

Day 1: Kathmandu to Dolalghat

  • 4-hour scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dolalghat.
  • Safety briefing, rafting basics, and gentle paddling introduction.
  • Camp near Kuhiyakovir, known for wild peacocks and serene surroundings.

Day 2: Dolalghat to Jungla River

  • Tackle Kuhiyakovir rapids and enjoy the changing terrain.
  • Explore the traditional Newari village of Jungla with cobbled squares and peepal trees.
  • Paddle through Chamere Vhir, famous for bat-filled cliffs.

Day 3: Jungla River to Harkapur

  • Navigate a series of moderate rapids and enjoy scenic gorges.
  • Lunch at a wide oxbow beach.
  • Camp near Harkapur and prepare for its thrilling rapids.

Day 4: Harkapur to Jaws

  • Face the Harkapur rapids—some of the trip's most intense.
  • Pause at the Dudhkoshi River confluence.
  • Navigate through the Jaws rapids before setting up camp.

Day 5: Jaws to Waterfall Beach

  • Enter subtropical zones with bamboo groves and thick jungle.
  • Refresh under a natural waterfall.
  • Camp on a mica-flecked beach with panoramic views.

Day 6: Waterfall Beach to Tribenighat

  • Pass religious ghats and small rapids.
  • Reach Tribenighat, the confluence of the Sunkoshi, Arun, and Tamor rivers.
  • Visit local temples and experience the spiritual energy of this sacred site.

Day 7: Tribenighat to Chatara

  • Visit Barah Kshetra, a Hindu pilgrimage center.
  • End the rafting journey at Chatara and pack up.
  • Begin your return journey: either a 15-hour drive or 3-hour drive to Biratnagar plus a 45-minute flight to Kathmandu.

Day 8: Kathmandu Arrival

  • Arrive back in Kathmandu with lasting memories from Nepal’s finest rafting adventure.
